Shipping Packages to Duke and Electricity/Voltage Information

We no longer hold boxes or packages for you at International House so please do not send your items to International House.  If you are an undergraduate, you should be able to send your boxes to your Duke Post Office address.  If you are a graduate student or scholar, ask your department if you can ship your boxes there.  Otherwise, ask family or friends to ship you your boxes after you have an address in Durham or Chapel Hill.

We recommend that you bring a few reminders of home, such as photos or crafts. These items are not only comforting to have but also will enable you to share a bit of your culture with new friends.

VOLTAGE
Most appliances will require a plug adapter and/or transformer (such as hair dryer, electric shaver). We recommend that you purchase such adapters prior to your arrival. (US110-115 volt, 60-cycle AC).  Radio Shack at Northgate Mall is one store within walking distance where you can purchase adapters.  Actually, our recommendation is not to bring items such as hair dryers from home, but to purchase them here instead.
