How to get to the Food Store without a Car?
Here are a number of ideas on how to get to the local Grocery (food) store and back.
1. Take the TTA bus from Erwin Road to Super Target/Sams Club.
Time your return trip to arrive after 5pm so you can get off at Duke Hospital and call Safe Rides to get you home. Remember, TTA bus does not run on Sundays. Www.ridetta.org
2. Take the LaSalle Loop bus from campus up to Kroger Grocery Store.
This bus WILL run through the summer 2009 http://parking.duke.edu/buses_vans/bus_sched/lasalle.php
3. Take DATA Bus 11 from campus or La Salle Street to the Food Lion on Main street. Bus 11 stops right in front of Food Lion. For more information about Bus 11 schedule, go to: http://data.durhamnc.gov/route11.cfm
4. Take the C-2 bus over to East Campus and walk over to Whole Foods. Time your trip so it is after 5pm. Then walk over to East Campus and call Safe Rides from your cell phone for a ride home. Tel. 684-SAFE. Again, this must be done after 5pm.
5. Post a message over intlhouse@duke.edu to see if anyone with a car is driving to grocery store and can take you too.
6. Call a taxi.
