English Opportunities
- Does International House provide any English programs?
- We offer internationals opportunities to practice their English by joining one of our several programs specifically designed to give internationals the opportunity to practice their English. You can find out all about our programs at http://ihouse.studentaffairs.duke.edu/resources/handouts/eslopportunities.html
International House also offers workshops and other programming designed to assist international postdocs and scholars understand American culture and English. - How can I use the International House to improve my English?
- Although International House does not offer English classes per se, it does offer internationals an opportunity to practice their English in a few less formal ways. First, you can join other internationals and a few native English speakers each Monday from 5:15 to 6:15 at the International House for English Conversation Club. You can also join the Duke Language Partners Program, which pairs native English speakers with non-native speakers. If you are a spouse/partner you may join the Spouses Group English Hour held on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:30.
For more information on these programs and other programs offered in Durham and Chapel Hill, please check out our handout English Opportunities here.
